Home made ice cream by The Last Polka. Being Malaysian, I opted for Cendol flavor and Dhila picked the Mango flavor.

My favorite ice cream is still New Zealand Natural Ice Cream! :P

Inspiring Optimism in Malaysia

I wish there’s a lomo wall. It doesnt feel lively to me. Either because of the place is too spacious or there are not much pictures.

Am I losing my interest in photographing events?

Maybe yes. Maybe no.

I went to Urbanscapes 2011 yesterday and I hardly take any pictures. Dhila pun. Malas. I’m losing my interest in photographing events and maybe losing my interest in Urbanscapes as well. It’s our third time (Dhila & I) going to Urbanscapes. We were there when it start small and now it has become so big and mainstream.

Since 2009 we were anticipating the next year event, now, we are not so sure anymore. We dont like the place. It spoiled our mood so much. The place is so big and the sections/tents is so far from each other. We doesnt feel connected. Not to mention it so hot and totally outdoor. The place condition make it hard for us to enjoy the event despite the awesome programs scheduled. I think we are not used to it, the NEW Urbanscapes.

We stayed till night during 2009 and 2010, but this year, it hardly 6pm but we already off from the place. Sad to say, there’s no excitement to keep us stay longer and anticipate the next year event. There’s not much fond memories of Urbanscapes 2011 as well.

We are not going to the next Urbanscapes, not unless they are held in KL Pac which is impossible because Urbanscapes is going big and KL Pac couldnt accommodate the growing numbers of its visitors. Well, I guess it’s time to say GOOD BYE?

Dhila lah yang terbaik dari ladang! Tak malu dengan Saffa perangai macam budak-budak nak belon-belon dekat Urbanscapes. Tolong Saffa amik gambar Saffa! And sama-sama drooling over the fire guys. Hahaha.

I’m glad we ‘met’ each other and we are both so into PHOTOGRAPHY now. Tapi. Kenapa Saffa tak nerd (rajin study) macam Dhila eyh? Hehe..

Oh ya! Welcome back HOME to Kelantan Dhila! Jangan lupa tengok WGM KhunVic and Taeyang milik Dhila selamanya. Saffa nak suara dia jer. Hahahaha.

Hahaha.. It just that they happen to be performing at the lawn stage when I was there (at the lawn stage). Saffa ingat nak amik gambar Liyana Fizi. But too bad Dhila and I were on the Olympus E-P1 contest when she’s performing.

Overall, Urbanscapes 2010 sucks if I had to pay RM30/RM40 for the tic BUT luckily I won a contest so Yay, Urbanscapes was cool! Haha..

Apa yang Saffa suka sangat dengan Urbanscapes?

Because I’m a photography enthusiast! and Urbanscapes festival is a great place/event to shots! Hehe. And I secretly like this kind of event because it allow me to speak English without sounding so POYO. Eventho it was abit embarassing when I spoke some broken english. BUT. I just love speaking in English!

Remember this? Sumpah I couldnt imagine if I couldnt go to the Urbanscapes festival. Dhila postponed her flight because she wanted to go to this event with me. And luckily my mum allow me to go to the event with my sister.

I tried to shot close up pictures when I realise that the specs is shiny enough to reflect my image! Haha. COOL! Dhila urge me to wear that specs. BUT. No wayyyyy. Besar sangat lah Dhila oii! Even specs Saffa sendiri pun Saffa tak nak pakai. Huhu..

Okayy lah. Enough with all those ramble. Let’s enjoy the photos. As usual lah kann. ;)

I always envy those who are great with drawing and DOODLES!

Oh ya, the music was great! I love it. But the sound was too loud for me….. IF you happen to know who they are, please let me know okayy. =) Thanks to Miss Anon. They are Sphere! Gonna check them out soon!

And this is Kyoto Protocol band (Who are they? =.=) Performing at the Lawn Stage. I took their pictures because of the colourful lighting. Hehehe.. :D

Ah! This is the fire guys (from Didgeridoo & Fire Dance) that Dhila & I are drolling over. Hahaha. Some of them are undeniable “cute”. Like. HOT gila! Too bad we couldnt take their pictures due to lighting problem.

And because I’m using my cousin camera.. I didnt know much about shutter priority setting. So I gave up and took normal photos as you can see in the above pictures. BUT Dhila manage to snap some fire trail pictures! It was awesomeeee!

Uh. This is very long post kannn. I should stop now. BTW, I still have lotsa pictures in my computer. I’m gonna publish one more Urbanscapes pictures. Then Tilu & Najwa pictures separately. ;)

First of all, I strongly recommend that you read this guide first > KLue: 16 tips on how to survive the festival! Now. I’m going to cover things that KLue left behind and reiterate important things. ;)

Ticket?

“As a rule of thumb, all music, photography and film take place in paid zones.” As for me: Dont buy the ticket unless you gonna stay and enjoy all the performances, film and photography thingy.

Even IF you dont have the ticket, you can still enjoy the festival = ONLY IF you are not an avid artsy thingy/any music group which will be performing there. ;)

BTW, if you missed the Pre Sale ticket. You can walk in and buy the ticket at the door/Urbanscapes @ INFO HERE.

MOOLAH a.k.a Money?

There’s no ATM machine at KLPAC. The nearest ATMs are in Sentul town. So, bring enough cash okayy!

Food and Drink?

Yup. There is a marketplace / Food & drink stalls… BUT. The prices are freaking a bit expensive. Last year, a tin of Coke cost about RM3? A mineral water too!

So. Eat your lunch first before you go to the Urbanscapes & bring your own drink. ;)

Public Transport?

KTM/Star LRT to Sentul and Taxi to KLPAC. Easy! BUT. Please please be careful with taxi. My friend and I was being cheated by the taxi driver last year. We had to pay RM10 from KTM Sentul to KLPAC.

The truth is, KTM Sentul and KLPAC is not that far. KTM’s Sentul station is next to Sentul Park where KLPAC is located. You can read more about KLPAC location @ INFO.

TIP: If the taxi driver does not know where klpac is, mention the old KTM (National Railway) depot, Sentul Golf Club or Sentul West. klpac used to be a golf clubhouse and before that a railway depot. It is located in what is now known as Sentul Park which is part of YTL Corporation’s Sentul West development.

Weather?

HOT HOT HOT. So, dress casually (No thick jacket!) and dont forget the sunblock too. No heel please. Urbanscapes is an outdoor festival. You dont want to sprain your ankles while walking on the ground / jamming at The Lawn.

BTW, You might want to pack an Umbrella too.. IN CASE it rain / the sun is too hot to handle? Or bring along a small fan. Alaa.. The small fan that use battery tu..  XD

Be EARLY!

Car pool or not. The parking space is limited and Urbanscapes venue is wayyy far from the KLPAC entrance. 20-30 minutes walk. ;)
