Please Kill Me! (Not Really)
Yup. I bought a DSLR – Sony Alpha 500!
Please pretty please dont ‘kill’ me. Honestly, I wanted to buy Sony NEX 5. And my family went from Digital Mall PJ to Plaza Low Yat just to find the NEX 5. I tried the NEX 5 and I just freaking love it.
So, how did I end up buying the DSLR instead of Semi Pro?
Well, “thanks” to the Seller! When he brought NEX 5, he also brought along Sony Alpha 500. The seller and I had some arguments why I should go for the DSLR instead of Semi Pro. And my mum, being a person with long term view and money value, she wants me to buy the DSLR too.
I was really really really extremely teribally RELUCTANT. I dont want DSLR I dont want DSLR I dont want DSLR. I asked my mum, “Seriously?” “Seriously?” “Seriously!?” and everytime I look into her face, I just couldnt think anything. This DSLR cost wayyyy to much than my Semi pro budget! Obviously! Since this DSLR set come along with 55-200 mm lens!
And while I was hesitating and thinking, the seller keep explaining and showing the advantage of DSLR and Sony A500. To cut the story short, since I have been talking about DSLR since forever, my family insist me to take the DSLR instead of the NEX 5.
Warning: TOLONG jangan pertikaikan KENAPA Saffa mesti amik Sony Alpha 500. Kenapa tak amik yadadada.. Sony Alpha 500 ni kan blablabla. Rugi jer yadadada. Kan BETTER if Saffa amik blablabla.
My parents bought it for me ALREADY. And nothing can change that. Please do not make me feel guilty/wrong for choosing this DSLR. Nobody likes to spend thousands on a DSLR and then start to think/being told that they would have been better off going with other DSLR instead.
Plus, photographys isnt about the camera, but the person behind the camera itself kan? One more thing, my photography thingy is for my own satisfaction, I dont have any intention to be ‘something’ in the photography world.
Yes, THERE ARE A LOT of things that I need to learn. Honestly, I still dont know much how to operate this DSLR eventho I do know some of photography terms like ISO, Shutter, Aperture etc.
Whateva is is, I just want to let you know that I’m a pretty sensitive & emotional person, do think before you let your harsh comments (about photography) kill my passion in indulging myself in my own world of “photography”.

nice camera,the A500 can be considered a semi pro DLSR but the min 55mm seems a bit high,18~28mm min should cover most usage but what to do it comes with the camera.

Saffa pun tak tau sangat. Whateva it is, apa yang Saffa tau, setiap DSLR ada pro and cons dia yang tersendiri. So, there’s no such thing as making the wrong move to buy that DSLR instead of others. ;)

I don’t know how you’re gonna carry that thing around, but how ever the way you choose, just take care of it. You KNOW you’re clumsy, so you SHOULD be EXTRA careful and take a very good care of such expensive gadget.
Dah kena sekali patut tahu beringat after this.
Pisang mungkin takkan berbuah dua kali tapi kalau kes curi/ragut/pukau ke ape ni blh jadi beribu2 kali.
AND, since dah beli ni, jgn la nak malu2/cover2 nak pakai, rugi je. Biar la org nak fikir ape, benda dah beli, takkan nak simpan dlm almari & pakai sembunyi2?

Anyways i think that maybe your mom thinks that you can go far with photography kot and maybe thats why she insisted with the DSLR and you know im with her on this ;-)
Oh but just do take extra precaution whenever you go out with it. Nowadays dah jadi mcm trend for ppl to steal DSLR in any way possible cos they know these things always laku for a high price. Kalau boleh make sure you’re always with a friend when you’re out taking photos.

I had to go through a very bad moment (bag kena curi) before I get it! It was quite traumatic and my parents know how much I love photography and the digital camera, thats why they bought me a DSLR. Eventho at first I wanted a semi pro. Huhu.

LOL. Tapi kalau ikutkan harga NEX5 kat Malaysia ni RM2300. Dah boleh angkut DSLR cam Nikon D3000/ Canon 1000 D kowt. Huhu.
