HTC HD7: Love, Love-Hate & Dislike (SUMMARY)

That’s me, trying to snap pic of my litte nephew playing with my Sony Alpha 500 (and at the same time, he’s taking my pictures! LOL)

Anyways, it has been more than two weeks since I got HTC HD7 for #Maxis10 Reviewers Program and finally, it’s my time for me to write the summary (which I should have post it up few days ago =.=”).

As promised, Imma list out things that I LOVE, I LOVE HATE & I HATE DISLIKE about HTC HD7.

I LOVE HTC HD7

  • The first phone with kickstand! That’s so rocking!
  • The minimalist and clean interface. It is so damn cool and seriously like no other. The big tiles and the animations blew me away. I just love it. Things such as email and people hub are so simple BUT definitely kicking!
  • I love the cloud mobile as in cloud computing. Everything is in the phone. All my contacts from Facebook and Emails (Gmail, Yahoo & Hotmail)!
  • Facebook integrated. Open the people hub and all my friends are there. I’ve quick access to email them and write on their wall. Open their profile and I can get little info about them (which was extracted from their info page) and NEW news from their facebook account (their new status etc). Open the picture hub, I can also get “what’s new” pictures from facebook too!

I LOVE HATE HTC HD7

  • The phone camera! It can be pretty nice BUT sometimes very irking! Problematic in low light condition which produce pinkish image due to the flash.

  • Super sensitive screen, you don’t have to ‘press’, just touch it gently will do. BUT at the same time can drive you nut when you keep ACCIDENTALLY touch the ‘Back’ and ‘Search’. You need to be careful when texting and the way you hold it. Urgh. Luckily the text texted was saved if you accidentally press the ‘Search’.

I DISLIKE HTC HD7

  • The so not sticking out button makes it hard to press unless you hold the phone firmly. And it’s definitely hard to use one hand to take a pic as it would often produce blurry images due to the phone size and the pressure of clicking the button would shake the phone.
  • Besides that, I’ve one more issue with button. Why must the start button is also a button to lock & unlock the home screen? Kalau asyik click click click, button tu tak akan jadi longgar ker? Or maybe some how would stuck? Just saying.

  • For some people the battery bar might not be really important. BUT, for a smartphone, it is really important for me. I need to know the battery bar so that I wouldn’t be surprise when the phone screams “GOOD BYE!” The only way to know the time is to lock and unlock the phone as the battery bar only available on the home screen (not MENU home screen)

  • This is so ridiculous. Imagine if I’ve tons of application, would it be such a long list down. Eventho it was arranged according to the alphabets, it still pretty annoying.
  • The marketplace. I don’t think I’ve to explain about this.

Honestly, there are a lot of things which can’t make HTC HD7 superior than other phones besides the 4.3” screen and great User Interface. Window Phone 7 lack of apps and things in the marketplace, BUT, with the recent news about developers hired to built apps for WP7, it will definitely grow rapidly in time. In my opinion, HTC HD7 is a great phone, like I said before, it like no others. And because of the minimalist and cloud mobile, this is my rating for the phone:

I believe that by 2010, my rating for the phone will definitely arise to 4/5. It might have a chance to get 4.5 ONLY if all the things that I dislike on the phone is fixed. ;)

Here is the list of other Maxis10 Reviewers Programme. You might want to check them out as they definitely point out things which I do not mention. ;)

umm.. saffa, bukan u boleh drag the apps to the shortcut ke? so you can a ‘page’ (or more, I’m not sure) where you can save your most used apps? I’m not sure if that’s only for HTC desire but the interface looks the same. so, pretty sure you can do that with your phone, too. btw, you dapat terus, or for 2 weeks je?

There’s only two page START-Menu & this long list down page.Things on the “long list down” page tu memang boleh pin dekat START-Menu page.

Yang I tak suka nyer, try imagine if I ada lotsa apps, tak ker panjangggggg sangat page “long list down” tu nanti? I really wish that the second page tu boleh tukar jadi grid menu.

What you do is slide down from the top of the phones screen at any time to show the battery meter signal strengh etc…
