Of Being a Dental Student’s Patient & Dental Treatments

Hello people, Lemme tell you my awesome experience as a patient of a dental student!

I went to my first appointment for a review untuk buat retainer on 31st January. I had some checking, xray scan and getting a mold for my retainer. I gagged like crazy that they had to stop it for a while and redo the process. =.=” Unless you went through it, you would not know how hellish it can be.

Due to I’m studying at UIA Gombak, the second appointment can only take place this week (al maklumlah cuti semester). So, on 25th April, I had another checking and was presented to the lecturer / doctor (learn lotsa things about my teeth!), had a scaling and got my retainer.

Of course lah I learn lotsa things about my teeth, the dental student and the doctor are talking in my face you know. Missing, sound, check, caries, bone loss. Macam teruk plak bunyi dia. T___T

And today, I had another appointment for a treatment of my fractured front tooth. Just a minor. Tak pernah kisah pun pasal that broken tooth. The treatment basically to cover the fractured area and wallaaaaaaaa. asdfghjk I cant describe it in any words!

The best damn thing about being a patient of a dental student is they gonna educate you about teeth. And you gonna learn every damn thing about your teeth. Daripada the bones, the gum and the tooths! What has happened, what is happening and what gonna happen if there’s no treatment taken. Memang sangat awesome. Knowing all those things make me more teeth-conscious.

Things that I learn so far:

1) We should never use medium or hard tooth brushes! The plaque or any stain is removable by soft tooth brushes. Tak payah nak pakai dawai besi pun untuk gosok gigi. I’ve been experiencing bleeding everytime I brush my teeth and ever since I switch to soft tooth brush few months ago, there’s less bleeding.

2) I also learn that hard brushing techniques / brushing very hard will receding the gums and that is dangerous as it can expose the root of the teeth and eventually making the teeth shaky and easily to fall off (picture). Selalunya berlaku dekat orang tua, early 4o. Waktu tu, there’s no other treatment dah / dah terlambat. Sebab tu sekarang ni kita kena jaga our gums elok-elok! So, dont be too harsh on your teeth, right brushing technique should able to remove the plaque and if it’s not removable, it is not a plaque.

3) Plaque (can be removed by brushing) can turn into calculus (hardening, can be removed by scaling etc) and then finally lead tartar (hardened and cannot be removed by any mechanical means). I had lotsa calculus around my fix retainer inside my teeth and honestly, it’s pretty scary to know that the calculus can turn into tartar and my bleeding is actually cause by the calculus. The bad bacteria is fighting with antibody. Hence, the release of the blood.

4) It is important to have a dental check up every 6 months. I’m so gonna be more teeth conscious.

5) Doktor-doktor pelatih Fakulti Pergigian handsome-handsome belakaaaaaaaaaaaa. HAHAHAHA. JK. But seriously! Even the lecturers (Doctors) pun handsome and cun. I wonder why.

That’s all people. There are lotsa other things about my teeth but let me keep it personal to my self. One week and half to go before new semester begin! ):

BTW, honestly, betul lah,

“Excuse me Doktor Gigi, why you like to talk to me when your appliances is in my mouth? How am I suppose to answer your questions! LOL”

Did I say that the treatments is FREEEEEEEEEE? :D

      btw, don’t make it a habit to use “lotsa”, “gonna”, “wanna”, takut jadi habit dalam assignment nnt. :/

      Hahaha. Dont worry, in blogging I guna style ‘cakap’ that’s why ada banyak lotsa and gonna. (: I think I still can diff the writing for assignment and blogging.

      Oh, thanks to my sister! That dental students are my sister’s punya high school friends. But yup, macam sign up jugak lah untuk jadi patient dyeorg / study case for their practical requirement.

      Yay! Geng gigi besi! Hehe. Tp seriously agree psl dentist yg borak2 dgn kite bila segala macam benda ade dlm mulut kite. Angguk n geleng2 je lah jwbnye. Hehe. Btw, esok mama nk scaling gigi dla. AND I’M NOT HAPPY ABOUT THAT. Grr paling benci scaling! Serious.

      P/S: Student dentistry mmg superbly good looking! Hahah.

      Hahaha. *hi five* Paling tak suka kalau dia cakap-cakap pastu buat lawak, hello, rasa nak tercekik jer kalau dia buat lawak lepas tu nak gelak tak boleh sebab ada appliances etc semua dalam mulut. =.=”

      Scaling! Wah. Suka tak suka kena buat okayyyyyyy. Saffa dah cuak gila bila kena lecture pasal gigi, gums apa semua. :/

      P/s: Haha. Apa lagi! Suruh mama Dhila carik sorang laaaaaaa utk Dhila! LOL

      Yup. After 6 months dia suruh datang balik / nanti dia contact untuk review treatments. Haha. Tak boleh pakai lipstick sebab dental students tu lelaki & perempuan and dyeorg couple. Sweet gila okau. Dah la no phone sama. No kat belakang jer lain.

      tak suka gak scaling. sakit + ngilu giler..kalo gi follow up braces mesti dia scaling dulu…so stiap bulan mesti akan rasa ngilu tu..huuuu..

      Saffa tak rasa ngilu sangat. Melainkan kalau dia consistent scaling kat satu gigi tu lama-lama, baru rasa sakit.

      Haah. Lain. Mula-mula pakai braces (permanent lekat dekat gigi). After gigi dah teratur baru tukar pakai retainer (removable). Try la Google. (:
