Lomography #01: How To Choose Your First Lomo Camera!

Because my personal life is excruciatingly dull and I’m not in the mood for Photoshop tutorial.. I’ve decided to write about lomography! Yay?

Sebenarnya Saffa dah pun jawab soalan ni kat formpsring Saffa. Tapi. Tak berapa terperinci sangat.

Problem: I feel like buying a lomo camera BUT I dont know which one should I buy?

Solution:

Take your time to browse lomo photos (lomography.com/photos) and read the photo’s details. Jot down at least 5 camera that was used to take your favorite lomo photos.

Or you can view the photos according to the camera : lomography.com/photos/cameras

Click at the link to view the pictures tagged with the camera name. BTW, there are a lot of cameras with different spelling (Fisheye 2 = Fisheye2 = Lomo Fisheye 2). The list of cameras above was also grouped according to their family? (Diana, LCA & Horizon etc)

Check the camera details such as the price, the features and etc. That would help you to eliminate and narrow down the list of your-very-first-lomo-camera.

Besides that, you can also view the lomo cameras (lomography.com/cameras/best-sellers), take a look at the details/features and the photos taken with that camera etc to decide your first lomo camera. ;)

Now. The last step is to survey and buy the camera! Happy hunting!

Kesimpulannya, pilih lah style gambar lomo macam mana yang paling korang suka, lepas tu beli lah camera lomo yang boleh hasil kan style macam tu. Hahaha. Punya lah panjang membebel, padahal boleh bagi tau dalam satu ayat jer. Hehehe.

Lomo is an analog camera – use film. DSLR is a digital camera. =)

Erm.. There’s no average. Sebab ada banyak sangat lomo cameras. So, the price range agak besar. You can find lomo camera as lowest as RM50, RM100, RM200-RM700 and even RM1000+.

Sorry. But LOMOGRAPHY doesnt produce digital lomo. Those digital cameras with ‘lomo’ effect isnt part of lomography camera. So, for me, there’s no digital lomo BUT digital camera with lomo effect. ;)

i notice ada yang minat membeli kamera LOMO. Blogshop saya (lomolaysia.blogspot.com) ada menjualnya. Most of my Smena 8M is from rm130 to rm145 (including courier). Thanks Siti. You are proud of your heritage. Kewl.

kalau pakai film lomo ni kan,boleh tak nak direct film ni masuk pendrive,i mean buat dkt kedai gambar la,ke kena print out jugak dulu then scan?

Sayang, the shop will scan it for use directly from the film. Just told them nak scan masuk dalam CD. No need to print it out and scan guna scanner. ;)

1) Yup. Ada kamera ‘lomo’ digital.
2) Apa yang amik gambar kluar filem?

Kalau keluar filem kertas, itu kamera polaroid.
Kalau amik gambar amik gambar guna filem, lepas tu kena develop, itu kamera analoq /kamera lomo.
Kalau amik gambar lepas tu tengok dekat screen jer, itu kamera digital.

tak sampai rm85..kena pandai cari kedai. Cari dekat KL memang mahal gila. Last-last beli dekat kg, Batu Pahat dapat rm28 sekotak. paling murah. Hehe

POLAROID is a brand name. They produced “instant photo” cameras known as polaroid but then, they stopped years back then. Recently, polaroid was brought back to the market. And the film is RM85 and above (I’ve made a survey on this).

Film RM28 yang you cakap tu, I’m confident that it is Instax Mini Film for Instax Camera, which is produced by Fujifilm. It’s not polaroid. I know this because I sell Instax cameras & stuffs. And I’m selling Instax Mini Film at RM25 only. (:

Instax cameras is not polaroid. Just like how mamee/mee sedap is not maggi. Just want to educate people what is polaroid. Hope you dont mind.

If you prefer to buy at physical shop in KL. I would recommend The Mooks at KLCC. But it is a bit expensive there.

I dont recommend Diana camera if you are a beginner. 1) The camera is complicated. 2) It uses 120mm films which is hard to find, processed and more expensive. (but I do know shops that sells the film & where to process it).

Sorry. I dont know much about LCA but it’s one of the must have lomo cameras. Film around RM15-25 for slide films. Normal (negative) films RM10 or less.
