I have been blogging for past quarter year now and there are countless mistake that I had done. I read a lot of tips on blogs and try to improve my blog. I do not want my blog to be label as blog merapu. And here I am. I’ve deleted all my entries before (some may say I’m stupid because of it) so that i could start all over again. I’ve sort out some of my mistakes which i had learn all this time.

1. Putting the cart before the horse

I’ve just started blogging when I bought my domain. I didn’t know anything about hosting back then. It was Aisyah who guide me. I don’t even know what are cpanel, bandwidth and all kind of things related to blogging. -_-

I wanted to own self-hosted blog because of the flexibility of changing my blog theme design and features. I didn’t do much research and that is probably my biggest mistake.

Learning from others is the short-cut, but learning from experience engrains those mistakes deeper in the mind.

2. Intention

I’m not sure why I started to blog. Maybe its because I’m bored with the so-called social networking. Perhaps reader interaction is the thing that made me addicted to blogging. I really love to read and blogs ‘feed’ my appetite.

I don’t have any aim in blogging, perhaps that’s was my mistake. I don’t have any target and constant reason for blogging.

3. Mundane entries

As I don’t really have specific target, my entries are usually about me. I forgot how I’m craving for interesting stories in other blogs but I myself wrote something which should only be for my own reading.

I should had a blogger blog if my blog only revolving about my personal life. I admit that I’m too conscious on how my blog look like than the content. I simply forgot that the writing show who are we; more than the looking.

4. Long absences

As I’m trying to keep up with my university life, I’m spending less time online and consequently end up abandoning my blog.

I know the importance of updating my blog but somehow I always find a reason not to blog. As a result, I have lots of draft saved in my laptop. Updates Updates Updates! A lack of updates indicates that your blog is on its way out, and readers will quit checking back.

5. Not commenting on other people blog

Ahah.. I’m expecting comments from other people, but I simply leave other people blog without any comment.

6. Monetization

I’m still new in blogsphere and as a newbie, I notice most of bloggers monetize their blog. I got carried away and trying to monetize my blog in the first place and it is most probably not a good idea at all.

you should forget about it totally - and concentrate on the articles you write, how appealing they could be.Everything else, fame and money will follow

it’s normal. we human are imperfect. and we’re doing mistakes everyday.

and sometimes we keep repeating it from time to time.

so that’s why there’s a quote - “learn from mistakes”

kewl entry.. people make mistakes. only idiot repeat the same mistakes..

and I was an idiot back then.

studying is important. yet blogging is for fun. its good that you’ve realised your mistake rather than other people telling you so.

btw, i pretty like ur idea of the whole layout. yeah credits to aisyah rozi isn’t it..

i, myself has been long participated in blogging since 2003, but only last year 2007 seriously.

actually in our life many things we learn from our mistakes, right!? more mistakes, we got more experience. he3.

hehehe. don’t worry u’ll get the hang of it. i just ramble about anything i want. ha ha ha. . I never get the hang of it though. i write what i had in my mind during that particular time.

So whatever is your blog about it doesn’t matter. Some people blog about their personal life as well and the only different thing between them and us is that they really know how to write to make the entry look more interesting ( I really fail this part) ha ha ha

I think I’m guilty of three of the mistakes you listed .. but I don’t feel bad about it LOL …

I started blogging because I need the extra income, hence the monetization - subtle but it’s enough to make me happy hehe … I got a very nice bonus out of blogging, which is meeting new people and having them as friends! :)

Mundane entries is something that I’m getting tired of now.. but we can always diversify :D Leaving my other blog quiet for sometime, but this can always be improved ;) Nonetheless, bravo to you for wanting to be better That’s the spirit girl!

Those are not mistakes lah, just things you pick up as you learn your way :) There is no ’standard’ on how you should blog, so most important just write what you want, it’s yours. Don’t worry some people will find your stuffs interesting, some don’t, always two sides of the coin. Cheers!

blogging should be for fun; not for money making or show off. Treated your blog like your own-self made character - it should have what you love - what you hate; don’t blog when you’re busy coz it got no meaning into it; and don’t get addicted too.

My tips for SEO (search engine optimisation) and make your blog visible in search engine - at least on no 4 on google.
1. Do a lot of categories if your writing not on one topics - categories gives life to your blog
2. Get related post plugin
3. Get Google Sitemap XML plugin - register your sitemap after that with Google Webmaster Tools
4. Write story with photographs - people laugh at you is OK, it means good - coz they read and they will comeback again
5. Keyword is important! Think what keyword people might search - use keyword tools in Google adsense or adwords
6. Get SEO Plugin too
7. Write with passion of your heart - broken english or cacamarba malay is OK - it’s your story, don’t pretend to be someone else who commented you.
